The husband was ecstatic that I made a “normal” meal tonight. Normal meaning a protein, a starch/grain and a vegetable, all separate on a plate. He’s SO adventurous, isn’t he?
When I told him I was making salmon his exact quote was, “Awesome, wait… it’s not salmon stew or anything, is it?”
He CRACKS me up.
Anyway, I defrosted salmon last night and I needed a quick way to make it after work tonight. I love sweet and salmon together, it’s a perfect combination.
Ingredients
- 2 – 4oz Salmon fillets
- 1 tablespoon (21g) honey
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- ¼ red pepper flakes (or to taste)
- non-stick cooking spray
- dried chives for garnish (optional)
- Salt and Pepper
Instructions
Whisk the honey, Worcestershire sauce and pepper flakes in a small bowl.
Pre-heat a skillet sprayed with non-stick cooking spray over medium heat.
Season the salmon with salt and pepper. Place the salmon in skillet and cook for about 3 minutes a side. Before you flip drizzle the honey mixture on the salmon reserving some to drizzle for the flipped side.
The secret to salmon is not to over cook it, although I still forget this from time to time. In a preheated skillet it really only takes about 3-4 minutes a side, based on thickness.
I served with steamed broccoli and a whole-wheat noodle side.

I made this tonight and served it with a side of Uncle Ben's Wild and Brown Rice Medley and some pan sauteed onions and squash. It was incredible! And so, so easy! Everything was great - if you're looking for a quick rice side, I recommend the Uncle Ben's. 90 seconds in the microwave; can't get much easier.

Just got done eating this and it was awesome! My DH who isn't crazy about fish had it and really liked it, i followed the recipe exactly (mine needed more time, really think salmon), it's definitely going into our rotation! YUM

I tried this one last night. I doubled the honey and Worcestershire sauce (my fillets were a little bigger). I marinated the thawed fillets in the fridge with this mixture for about 2 hours. Then I put the fillets in foil, poured the extra sauce on them and shut the tops of the little foil containers. I cooked them in a 375 degree oven for 20 minutes. When I took them out I poured off the excess sauce and served. They were absolutely delicious. My husband (rather picky...and doesn't like spicy food...) even liked them. I always wait till after he's eaten something to tell him there is red pepper or the like in it 🙂
Thanks for another great recipe, Roni!

ooh this sounds good! My new fave way to cook salmon is in a foil packet in the oven. Keeps it from getting dried out and keeps all the yummy juices in!

Looks like another great recipe. I love salmon. I have to laugh at your comments about the husband's reactions to your dishes. My guy is the same way. Unless it once moo-ed and comes with a side of potatoes it's a no go.

Hmmm...I am totally going to have to try this out. You really are good at mixing flavors and ending up with it tasting good. I tried that once with some salmon, ginger, soy, and honey...not very good. My husband ate a couple bites and said that was all he could stomach. Oh well...I am definitely giving this recipe a try.

That looks delicious! I also make salmon with honey but I use sf honey, lime juice and pepper flakes. It carmelizes and tastes so good!!! I love your blog and all of your recipe ideas~keep up the good work!!!!!!!

This sounds good! I'll have to substitute agave nectar for the honey because I'm doing South Beach, but it looks very tasty. I make maple salmon occasionally ~ SF maple syrup, lite soy sauce (half the amount of maple syrup) and garlic (to taste) which is very tasty also.

My Hub can stir things around with his fork without actually eating anything better than any anorexic highschooler!!! I'm having a recent love affair with honey and this looks really good.
