Five months ago I made Baked Ham with Sweet Potatoes and Carrots. Why is that important, you ask? Well, I ate the other half of that 3 pound ham tonight. Using the same seasoning as the baked dish, I cut the Ham into 3 oz “steaks” marinated and grilled them on the BBQ. It was delicious! The husband AND the the toddler BOTH asked for seconds. Do you believe it?
Ingredients
- 1-2 pounds of a cured ham cut into thick slices (or you could actually buy ham steaks)
- 1 really large sweet potato cut into thick fry like pieces
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Balsamic vinegar
- 1 tablespoon (21g) honey
- 1 tablespoon (20g) molasses
- ¼ teaspoon all spice
Instructions
Cut the ham slices and potato wedges.
Whisk the vinegars, honey, molasses and all spice together. Pour the marinade into a large ziplock bag and marinate the ham steak and potatoes for about an hour.
Preheat the grill.
Cook the potatoes over medium heat first as they will take longer (about 45 minutes). To speed up the process you can start them in the microwave for 3-4 minutes and then grill.
Once the potatoes are just about done, place the ham steaks over high heat for about 3-4 minutes a side. The ham is already cooked so you are just heating it up and getting those pretty little grill marks.
Notice my peas in the corner, this is one of my grill tricks like I mentioned last year on Roni's Weigh.

We had this the other night, and I declared it the best meal I'd had in ages. The marinade rocks - I could bathe all my food in it and be totally happy. I will probably make it again tomorrow night.
Also, I grilled my ham on my George Foreman, and it was perfect. Potatoes went in the oven, but still delish. I'd love to try them on the grill soon.

Darci - I do! Wow I didn't even realize I didn't post nutritional information! It's about 90cals for 3 oz. So official 2 points but I normally count all lean meats 1 points and ounce to keep myself honest. :~)

Yum what a great idea and perfect portions! Do you have any idea how many points the Glazed Ham is per oz?
