I don’t know how to even start this post.
This idea came out so good I’m speechless.
Seriously speechless.
I made an experimental breakfast but it could easily be dessert. It’s that good. I’m not kidding!
This is how it started…

Then I remembered I had these in the freezer…

Such a few simple ingredients and it took all but 10 minutes.
Here’s what I did…
- 1 raspberry tea bag
- 1 cup of water
- 1/2 cup Old Fashioned Oatmeal (40g)
- 1 tbsp Dark Chocolate Cocoa Powder (5g)
- 1 tbsp honey (21g)
- 1/2 cup frozen raspberries (70g)
Put the tea bag and water in a small pot.
Quick tip: Tie the bag to the handle so it’s easy to fish out later.

Bring to a boil over high heat.
Once boiling, add the oats and lower to the medium. Cook for about 5 minute stirring occasionally until it thickens.
Remove the tea bag. Be sure to squeeze out the excess.
Shut the heat off and stir in the cocoa powder and honey. Combine well. Add the raspberries and stir in. They will cool the oats down while defrosting.
Pour into a bowl and enjoy!

The husband wasn’t a big fan. He asked me what I was making and when I told him he replied, “There is nothing about that I would like. Plus it looks like a pile of poop.”

I can’t really argue but it was a tasty pile of poop.

I mean REALLY tasty.

Yum! and LOL! :)
Your husband cracks me up. That sounds like something Ryan would say lol. This looks good…I might try something similar :)
I never would have thought of putting a tea bag in oatmeal; what a great idea! Definitely going to have to try that one.
Thank you, I will be trying this! I see that not only do we have the same name, but we both shop at Aldi. Gotta love a bargain! :)
I have 3 of the ingredients at home, plus the oatmeal samples all I need is the frozen raspberries. Definitly making it this week! YUM!
Lol!!!! It looks delish!! And, the hubby always cracks me up!!
Looks like a good dessert. I still have some frozen strawberries…may try it with them!
Looks fabulous! Are those tongue marks at the bottom of that bowl? LOL
I think I need to try this:)
Yes please!!
Yum .. 56g of carbs ? how ? 27g from Oatmeal, just wondering where the rest is coming from? honey?
The honey is 17
The cocoa is 3
Oatmeal 28
Berries 8
It adds up fast!
do you have any ideas for oatmeal that have a crunchy texture? I don’t like mushy or even soft oatmeal. I eat my cereal plain w/o milk because I like the crunch. Would love to try an oatmeal dish with crunch!!
christy – I don’t think there is such a thing. I could be wrong though.
Christy, if you made it into granola you’d have your crunch. Only problem is that it’s kinda high in calories! Very tasty, though.
This looks soooo decadent, and reminds me of a cake called “chocolate decadence cake.”
Christy: I’m not sure if the texture is crunchy, but have you tried baked oatmeal?
I eat oatmeal with the dark cocoa powder every morning but I never tried it with berries(I usually use peanuts, peanut butter, or almonds). I’ll be trying berries as soon as I can get my hands on some.
i bought everything to make this tomorrow. can’t wait to try it out.
This looks so amazing, but I am unable to find dark cocoa powder at either of our little grocery stores that are local (I’m from a really small town). I tried it with regular cocoa powder and it was good but lacked a little something special. I was just wondering if this could work with dark chocolate chips instead of powder? Would it drastically increase the points? Love your site!
I think it would totally work. Just skip the honey and melt the chocolate right in! To easily calc the point, just count the oatmeal and chocolate separately. The raspberries are free!
Roni, if this is as good as it sounds I will love you forever. I think I just squealed out loud when I ran across this. Can’t wait to try it, ’cause I love oatmeal but I am soooo bored with it and I am obsessed with chocolate!
Roni, you have done it again ! It was absolutely AMAZING ! I only had raspberry green tea and frozen mixed berries and it was fantastic :) This is going to be a repeat, I can promise you that ! Thank you for your creativeness !!
I looove adding cocoa to my oatmeal, but my fruit of choice is usually banana.
Roni, I know you love oatmeal and butternut squash. Have you tried combining the two? I’ve had it three mornings in a row, so I may be officially obsessed. Roasted chunks of squash, tossed with cinnamon and nutmeg, sprinkled with dried cranberries and pecans. It’s a bowl of fall!
I love that idea!!
I just tried the dark chocolate raspberry oatmeal and LOVED IT! I didn’t have the tea so I used a little strawberry jam and fresh strawberries instead of raspberries. It was amazing! Another home run!
This looks great!! I was wondering to cut down on the carbs could I use Quinoa?
I’m not sure what the carb count is on quinoa but it would up the protein!
