    Dark Chocolate Raspberry Oatmeal

    raspberry oatmeal pin

I don't know how to even start this post.

This idea came out so good I'm speechless.

    Seriously speechless.

I made an experimental breakfast but it could easily be dessert. It's that good. I'm not kidding!

    This is how it started...

Then I remembered I had these in the freezer...

Such a few simple ingredients and it took all but 10 minutes.

    Here's what I did...

    Ingredients

    • 1 raspberry tea bag
    • 1 cup of water
    • ½ cup Old Fashioned Oatmeal (40g)
    • 1 tablespoon Dark Chocolate Cocoa Powder (5g)
    • 1 tablespoon honey (21g)
    • ½ cup frozen raspberries (70g)

    Instructions

Put the tea bag and water in a small pot.

Quick tip: Tie the bag to the handle so it's easy to fish out later.

Bring to a boil over high heat.

Once boiling, add the oats and lower to the medium. Cook for about 5 minute stirring occasionally until it thickens.

Remove the tea bag. Be sure to squeeze out the excess.

Shut the heat off and stir in the cocoa powder and honey. Combine well. Add the raspberries and stir in. They will cool the oats down while defrosting.

Pour into a bowl and enjoy!

The husband wasn't a big fan. He asked me what I was making and when I told him he replied, "There is nothing about that I would like. Plus it looks like a pile of poop."

I can't really argue but it was a tasty pile of poop.

    I mean REALLY tasty.

This was absolutely DELICIOUS. I took that first bite and I SWEAR the skies opened up and choruses of little cherubs sang in my delight. DEFINITELY satisfies that chocolate craving.

I'm not sure what the carb count is on quinoa but it would up the protein!

I just tried the dark chocolate raspberry oatmeal and LOVED IT! I didn't have the tea so I used a little strawberry jam and fresh strawberries instead of raspberries. It was amazing! Another home run!

I looove adding cocoa to my oatmeal, but my fruit of choice is usually banana.

Roni, I know you love oatmeal and butternut squash. Have you tried combining the two? I've had it three mornings in a row, so I may be officially obsessed. Roasted chunks of squash, tossed with cinnamon and nutmeg, sprinkled with dried cranberries and pecans. It's a bowl of fall!

Roni, if this is as good as it sounds I will love you forever. I think I just squealed out loud when I ran across this. Can't wait to try it, 'cause I love oatmeal but I am soooo bored with it and I am obsessed with chocolate!

I think it would totally work. Just skip the honey and melt the chocolate right in! To easily calc the point, just count the oatmeal and chocolate separately. The raspberries are free!

This looks so amazing, but I am unable to find dark cocoa powder at either of our little grocery stores that are local (I'm from a really small town). I tried it with regular cocoa powder and it was good but lacked a little something special. I was just wondering if this could work with dark chocolate chips instead of powder? Would it drastically increase the points? Love your site!

I eat oatmeal with the dark cocoa powder every morning but I never tried it with berries(I usually use peanuts, peanut butter, or almonds). I'll be trying berries as soon as I can get my hands on some.

This looks soooo decadent, and reminds me of a cake called "chocolate decadence cake."

Christy: I'm not sure if the texture is crunchy, but have you tried baked oatmeal?

Christy, if you made it into granola you'd have your crunch. Only problem is that it's kinda high in calories! Very tasty, though.

do you have any ideas for oatmeal that have a crunchy texture? I don't like mushy or even soft oatmeal. I eat my cereal plain w/o milk because I like the crunch. Would love to try an oatmeal dish with crunch!!
