What Came Home?
Yes, PRESCHOOL! Can you believe the same baby who has all those adventures is now a full blown toddler?!?
Little Bean started a part time day care program yesterday and I thought it would be fun to put a few of his lunches in the mix.
My overall lunch philosophy still holds true. I'm all about variety. Bean is a bit of a challenge as he's not the biggest fruit fan but over all he's a good eater, MOST of the time. Tonight he wouldn't touch his dinner and there was a lot of crying. A LOT.
*sigh*
Anyway, I'd love any pre-school suggestions. It's been awhile since I packed for toddler. At home we pretty much just eat leftovers or I make him a grilled cheese. Packing is always a whole other challenge.

Paula - both the edamame and broccoli were leftover from the night before so yea, they are both cooked. I've been trying to make a litle extra the night before just so I can include int he lunch boxes. 🙂

Do you cook the shelled edamame and broccoli or are they raw? I have not had edamame in ages. What a healthy looking lunch. Gives me some ideas for my adult lunch bag. It is getting too repetitious.

We do bowls of a kind of homemade trail mix with a carb, fruit, and protein. We try to make it a non-sticky or slimy bowl. Favorite ingredients are:
For carbs: baby pretzels, gold fish, oyster crackers, sesame sticks, cheeze-its, cheerios, kix, pieces of granola bars, pieces of cereal bars
For fruit: raisins, Dried blueberries, Dried Cherries, Freeze dried strawberries, Freeze dried blueberries, Dried bananas, Dried Mangos
For protein: nuts, cheese chunks, small ham squares, slices of pepperoni, slices of summer sausage, small chicken chunks, nutbutter cookie balls

my toddler always was a fan of pnut butter and fruit (i used strawberry ..natural not sweetened) mini sandwiches cut into shapes with my cookie cutters.
i think you could cut cheese with cookie cutters.
as for veggies...that was a hard one with my toddler, but honestly, green beans were always eaten!
applesauce. animal crackers. 🙂
i LOVE your ideas...as i've written before i use them for my own work lunches!
