What Came Home?

So you may or may not know, I run a juice free household. That way I can let the kids (OMG now I have 2) have it when we go out and they see it as a treat.
Well last week, after Little Guy's soccer game, he got the traditional post-game snack. They give away a juice box and treat after every game/practice. I don't think they should but that's another post. Anyway, he got his bag of Cheetos and Juicebox and came running over to me saying...
"I'm gonna save this and bring it to school in my lunch! That way my friends will see that I get juice boxes too!"
He was so excited. It was cute. I told him it was a great idea and pretty smart. I love that he's already willing to give something up now so he can have it later. It's all about the compromise. 🙂
In other news.. he's coming around on PB&Js which is good because I've been in a creative slump lately. He's been getting mostly hard boiled eggs. They are healthy, easy and he always eats them.

No plans on stopping.. just behind this week because I have a cold. 🙁 And of course there will be a break over the summer. Glad you like the section!

Roni, please don't ever erase or stop with this section. It is so helpful to me when I make a grocery list for my six year old daughter!!! Have really enjoyed the easy lunch ideas and especially the pictures and feedback. Thanks again!!!

Been a long time follower -- since the days of Weight Watchen -- and just wanted to add that I agree about the after sports snacks as well as the juice free (or limited) household. I love it when my daughters get their "snacks" after a game and say, "Great, I'll take this to school tomorrow." They also know if they eat their snack right away, that is their "treat" for the day/evening and they don't get another one at home.
Thanks for continuing to share your journey and I especially love to see what the little guy brings home (or not) from lunch.

I am soooooooooo with you on the "after game snack" for the kids - it should be called "after game junk food binge"! Alot of my daughter's softball games are during the week and don't end until 7:30pm or later and I cringe every time the snack family brings out the oreos, chips ahoy, etc and of course a sugar laden drink to wash it down with - just what an 8 year old needs at 8:00pm!
I've been an avid follower of your site for quite a while now - don't know why I've never commented :-(, but your recipes are delicious and are in constant rotation with our weekly menus. You are such an inspiration and I always look forward to your new posts. My kids live off of your muffin ideas (8yr old daughter, 6 yr old son)and they always trust the Little Guy's review :-)!
Thanks for everything!
