The "Get Me to Stop Eating Out" Crockpot Chicken

Published: Jul 31, 2009 · Modified: Oct 16, 2020 by greenlitebitescom · This post may contain affiliate links · 16 Comments

The title says it all. I had boneless chicken breasts, a few cans, a splash of seasoning and FINALLY a home cooked meal! Unbelievably the husband and toddler both ate this! I will make it again as an official recipe with Nutritional Info and all. For now you get the quick idea. Remember... just take it and run... 🙂

I agree with the early poster who said she was glad you did the video with your busy toddler right there... because that's REAL life!! It was so refreshing to know that I am honestly not the only one who can't get through the dinner hour without the kids asking for this snack or that snack. Thanks for the video... I'm gonna try it tomorrow...or next week. hehe.

    Hey Roni,
Just found you randomly through a sparkpeople forum and so glad I did! I am a pre-dent bio student at Univ of Texas who works about 20-30hrs a week and studies every second of my free time, so taking the time to cook can be rough. I LOVE all of your recipes, they are SO easy, use few ingredients and DELICIOUS. Keep up the amazing work and thanks!

Getting back to reading my fav blogs and I'm so glad you're still out there! Ryan was hilarious and he's grown so much! I have to try this--never cooked with orzo before.

I have subscribed to your newsletter for about 2 years now, and this is actually the first time I have had a chance to watch one of your videos. I loved it! It was so great to see that your life is as real as mine. Watching you do all this while you battle the toddler makes me realize that if you can do it with kids, I can do it with mine. Thanks for the inspiration!

Roni, Just ate dinner and it was delicious! The only thing I did was to add 1 can of black beans.

Audrey - Do you mind sharing the error??

As for the ingredients it was 3 chicken breasts, a can of northern beans, a can of diced tomatoes,8oz can of tomato sauce + 1 of water. I think I added a tsp each of basil, onion and garlic powder, Then after it cooked for 8 hours I added 3oz of orzo pasta.

Hope that helps! let me know about the error!

Great idea! I need to start bonding with my slow cooker more often. My problem is that I'm away from home so many hours each day I'd probably OVERcook everything!

I LIVE for my crockpot, especially on busy days! So easy, I do use FROZEN chicken breasts though, because they don't dry out as quickly. You can add just about anything to them to create your own thing! Love it!

Great video. I think ur little guy is learning how to be steal the show mum! LOL

    Thanks for sharing!

Roni ~ I love that you posted these with the Toddler there in the kitchen with you because this is how every meal is in my house! This looks good, but my husband doesn't like to think outside the box with his food, maybe i will surprise him with it. Keep, keeping it real, you are a huge inspiration on doing it all and doing it all well!

This looks good. How did you get to where you got creative and made up recipies? Did it take a lot of time? I'm hoping there's hope for me yet 🙂
