    Rainbow Fruit Kabobs [video post]

    Updated: Aug 22, 2023 by greenlitebitescom · This post may contain affiliate links · 15 Comments

    I totally stole this idea from my friend Carrie who had the most beautiful rainbow fruit kabobs at her daughters birthday party. They were GORGEOUS and so FUN!

    I immediately imagined the Little Guy and I making them together. What a fun way to get your little one to have fun in the kitchen while learning about and taste-testing all sorts of different fruits!

    The idea is simple. Use a fruit for every color of the rainbow to make a kabob. Here are some ideas…Rainbow Fruit Kabobs

    Red = Watermelon, Strawberries, Cherries, Raspberries

    Orange = Cantaloupe, Oranges, Mangos

    Yellow = Pineapple, Yellow Watermelon

    Green = Kiwis, Green Grapes, Honeydew

    Blue/Purple = Blueberries, Grapes, Blackberries

    Simply skewer the fruit in rainbow color order and have fun with it!

    On our next trip to the grocery store I'm going to let the Little Guy pick out 1 fruit for every color. What a great way to get them involved in choosing healthy foods on their own!

    Rainbow Fruit Kabobs  - finished

    And who says we can't do a veggie kabob? I'm thinking a grilled rainbow kabob of red pepper, butternut squash, small cut of corn on the cob, broccoli, and purple potato would look awesome! And geesh, you could even almost do a whole rainbow just out of peppers if you wanted!

    I love having fun with good healthy food! I hope this inspires you too. 🙂

      Hehehehe... poo flinging monkey. That just made my day.

      Looks like a great idea, and when I do have kids I hope that we get to do this together! Very cute!

      For goodness sake, Lynch, he's not a poo-flinging monkey! FYI - when children wash their hands with soap and warm water, it cleans them the same way it does when we was OUR hands.

      And it's a mom/son video. It's a great little family moment to share together - that also promotes healthy eating/living.

      Shame on you, Roni, for having a moment of bonding, and healthy-eating with Ryan! BAER.

      Roni - it's a great idea. I'm a teacher and it sounds like a fun idea for my students to do together. Safety first, hand-washing, and all.

      @Lynch - Seriously? First I don't recall Roni saying anything about serving them to guests, and why wouldn't she? I mean my 6 year old helps me bake every holiday season and we BOTH wash our hands before we begin, should she wear surgical gloves because she is a child? HANDLING? He was helping, working and instructing US the audience on how to make the kabobs.

      UGH why do ppl have to comment when they have nothing constructive to say.

        Honestly..... kids helping cook, bake... good..I've raised a lot of kids they all helped in the kitchen. Washing hands are taught as they are raised and by example, most of my kids love to cook or bake. Hands on, is how children learn. Way to go Roni teaching your children to be self-sufficient is the best gift anyone can give their children.

      I'm sure they washed their hands before they started. And seriously, it's a mom and her son. I'd eat them!

      This video really bothers me -- this child is handling the sticks and the fruit and then someone is supposed to eat it? I'm not a germophobe, but I draw the line at eating foods prepared by children with their bare hands.

      I can only assume the above commenter either does not have children or is, in fact, a germaphobe. I'd much rather eat something my daughter made (and she's 2) than something prepared in a restaurant, since having worked in many restaurants means I know exactly how "clean" they are in the kitchens.

      Such a great idea... the same old fruit tray gets a little boring but these look like so much fun. Our office has a meeting once a week where we all eat together and I am just going to have to make these. Thanks Roni! (THANKS to Ryan also...he cracked me up sliding his fruit all over the kabob) :}

      What a great idea! After a recent surgery, I was sent an edible arrangement. It was delightful but they're so expensive. You could easily use a bowl and a head of leafy lettuce and put the fruit kebobs in for a more whimsical arrangement of the fruit.
