Before you watch this video I have to tell ya a story. Now... I specifically make chicken into chicken nugget style for the toddler. Everyone knows toddlers like breaded chicken, right, RIGHT?!? Mine does so why not make a healthy nugget at home? (Ok, so I like them too but that's besides the point.) Well all of a sudden when we sat down to eat dinner after this video the toddler declares he doesn't like them. EVEN THOUGH he's been eating them for weeks!
FICKLE TODDLERS!
Anyway, had to get that off my chest. I'm still tagging this one toddler approved as I'm sure he'll like them next time (and he HAS liked them in the past).
As for the video, I haven't done a written out recipe for this idea yet. If you don't have time to watch the whole thing, the premise is using the ends of whole wheat bread, some wheat bran and your fav spices to make bread crumbs. Simple grind everything together in a blender and viola! Healthy cheap bread crumbs! 🙂
Oh! and toddler joins me about 5 minutes in.

Ooooops. I of course meant fiances, not fiance's! What a long day.
Holly
Thanks for the recipe! I hate wasting food, so this was a great fix for what to do with the bread ends. As a plus, even fickle fiance's like it!

Oh yeah you got a bullet? I make different kinds of milk shakes in those containers, YUM! Love it! Now, I cant wait to see that pasta food.

I love it! I had a knock off for years and used it all the time so when it broke I asked the husband for a "Real" one this Christmas. It's great for little jobs. 🙂

Hi Roni.
How do you like your magic bullet? I want(ed) one, but didn't know if they were worth buying.
Steph
p.s. I tried the peanut butter bulgur cookies, but even though I cooked the bulgur before putting in the cookie it still got hard later on. They were still good, but I wanted to see if you had any ideas on keeping the bulgur soft. I also wanted to know your ideas of making them healthier. I used whole wheat flour instead of white....that is all I changed.

That little turkey! He is too cute! :)My DH is almost 35 and still has those moments, so I'm not sure they ever grow out of them. I use my bread ends (heels) and make baked croutons.Sometimes, I need a crouton. I never thought of grinding them up for breading! (smacks forehead in "duh" fashion)

I made these for dinner tonight, Roni....and they were really good. Thank you for your great recipes!

Good idea Roni. Fortunately for me my husband does like the ends of the loaf so I don't really have to toss them. I do think I might try making the bread crumbs sometime. I've made my own nuggets/tenders for my kids using Bisquick Heart Healthy mix, just seasoning it to taste like you did with the crumbs. But you need to bake the chicken, I don't think it would do well in the pan. You may want to try it on the toddler, my kids enjoy it...and yes they really can be fickle even at 9, 7 and 3 yrs. I'm still waiting for the "Fickle Pickle" stage to end LOL.
