It's 8AM, we're in our pajamas and we're makin' homemade whole wheat pancakes! It's long, it's boring, it's quite a mess!
Post Video Notes:
- I forgot to tell you we LOVE these cakes with unsweetened applesauce.
- I actually ended up with 14 cake from the batch on the video.
- I promise, you'll never have to see me in my pajamas again.

Roni,
Member me? I "ran" with you in Nashville (inside joke: Roni ran and I kind of lagged behind in a wog which is a cross between a walk and a job).
I just loved watching you and the toddler make pancakes from scratch. Who knew you could create a buttermilkish liquid from lemon juice and milk.
I am in awe of your high level of patience with your little boy. Giving us cooking lessons, talking in the camera, wiping his nose and simultaneously giving the toddler ingredients and telling him "good job". I heart you.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching every minute of that video! I have to admit, I'm not much of a cooking show watcher, but your son totally made the show!
Marketing tip: to make something interesting, add a kid to the mix.

This sounds delicious, I can't wait to try them! Unfortunately for me, I'm a syrup lover.
One thing we love to do with pancakes is add fruit to the mix. A mashed ripe banana, some sliced strawberries, blueberries, even craisins. You name it, we've tried it! The kids love it and they turn out great, it really sweetens the fruit when they're cooked in. Also, we add a tablespoon of ground flaxseed to our batter.

My two boys (ages 3.5 and 23 months) love this recipe. I add two tablespoons of mini chocolate chips for a total of 15 points. We actually make waffles most of the time, just pick them up and eat them. I can get about 16 waffle sections out of this recipe, for a little less than one point each. It's very filling and satisfying. If I don't add the mini chocolate chips, I add fresh blueberries. Very yummy!

I'm watching you and Ryan make pancakes now and really enjoying watching you work together... I had never seen the lemon juice trick to make buttermilk. I sometimes have buttermilk in the house for when I make "fried" baked chicken and always have leftover buttermilk could I substitute the same amount of milk for buttermilk? It would give me a good breakfast the day after and use up all the milk 🙂
Loved the video!

Thanks Guys!
Allison - LOL I didn't but it had me cracking up too!!

Very cute and looks yummy! It's interesting that you have gotten used to not using butter and that you don't really like syrup! Our family is the same way. It started with our oldest child not liking syrup, but instead we drizzle 1/2 tsp of honey on a pancake and it is soooo good. And has just enough sweet for a pancake! KEEP UP THE GREAT VIDEOS!!! We enjoy them!
Monica
I love pancakes! Thanks.
Allison
Okay, Roni - i just had to comment on this because it cracked me up!
Did you notice what the toddler did after you gave him the spoon full of honey? You could totally see his confusion because it wouldn't off of the spoon - and it perplexed him for like the next minute - it was so adorable - he is just such a doll 🙂
