Cuttin' Fresh Pineapple - Video Post

Updated: Oct 16, 2020 by greenlitebitescom · This post may contain affiliate links · 13 Comments

Just a quick video this week, the toddler isn’t feeling too well and I wanted to get some fresh fruit in him. Although basic, this video is for all those scared to by a fresh pineapple. There is really nothing to it.

Just a tip… When buying a pineapple it should feel heavy for it’s size. That’s how you know you have a sweet one! (I should have said that on the video)

I just wanted to take a minute and thank you for this video. I didn't watch it when you first posted it, but I bought my second fresh pineapple ever today (the first one cutting was a DISASTER). This one is for an Easter dish - fruit salad. I used the directions in your video and it is perfect looking! Seems so simple, but even the directions on the label were goofy, so I really appreciated your video help!
Plus, you and your son are freaking ADORABLE.
      Thanks again!

My parents actually grow pineapples. They live in FL. What you do is after you cut off the top, put it in a dark closet for a few days and let the top try up some and then you plant it. I tried to plant one once but I live in NC so the cold killed it. You can grow them in pots or even in the ground. It takes two yrs after you plant it to get a pineapple!

Looks so easy--I learned something new and I do love pineapple, especially fresh pineapple! And thank you for the mango cutting video--thanks to that I've been enjoying mangos for several weeks now! Also anxiously awaiting the whole wheat pizza dough recipe and video as you mentioned several times that you've been working on that recipe--I can't wait!!

Yum, pineapple! I buy one every week. The way I get the core out is messier than yours so I will try your way next time.

I've been told that you can plant the tops in dirt and they will grow. I tried it a few times and it didn't work. I'm not sure about putting it in water. I'll have to do a Google search. I could have a pineapple farm if I knew how to grow them since I buy so many of them!

Anxiously awaiting your whole wheat pizza dough recipe and video!!! 🙂

I was at the store yesterday and looked at a pineapple but didn't but it b/c I wasn't quite sure how to cut it. Perfect timing! 🙂

And I wanted to let you know, your weekly videos are a weekly watch for me and my "toddler." Although he is almost 4 so not much of a toddler anymore. He LOVES to see Ryan in the videos.

The way to tell if a pineapple is ripe is to pull a leaf from the top (that crown). If it comes out easily it's ripe... if it's not easy to do, then it's not ripe.

      Hi Roni,
This video made me want to go buy a pineapple right now mmm. At http://www.specialtyproduce.com you can click on a fruit or veggie on the left side of the page and you will get info about the item such as season, how it can be prepared and a little background. I have the book they sell (right side of page) and it has every fruit and veggie I can think of 🙂 Thought you might find it interesting.

LOL I've tried doing it this way but somehow I end up with a disaster. I'm terrible with pineapples! but I'll give it another go. thanks for posting this 🙂 I'm new to your sites and love them so much!! I just started WW last weekend so I'm finding so much of your info helpful.

You know you can just twist the top off of the pineapple.. much easier! Otherwise i do it the exact same!
