Cold Brewed Cucumber Tea - Video Post

    brewed cucumber tea pin

No toddler this week as I venture into a beverage idea that's NOT a smoothie. (As I post this I realized all my prior "drinks" have been in the realm of the smoothie. )

So if you are looking to spruce up your water a bit try this simple idea...

    What you need...

    Ingredients

    • Large vase or pitcher
    • Lots of ice
    • 3-4 bags of your favorite tea
    • 4-5 thin slices of cucumber
    • Enough water to fill the pitcher

    Instructions

Fill your pitcher half with ice.

Add the tea bags and cucumber slices.

Top wit ice and fill with water.

Let site for about ½ hour.

    Drink! :~)

As for nutritional information, it's unnecessary. Tea is free! And the cucumbers aren't being eaten. If caffeine bothers you this can easily be made with decaffeinated or herbal teas only.

      Thanks for reminding me!

I sometimes make this kind of iced tea but I should do it more often. Mint is nearly always a good idea, even with fruit teas like apple.

Just one really small thing, and I am kind of sorry that I have to mention this thought because otherwise it will bother me all day: You might want to remove the tags at the end of the teabag strings because of the paper and the ink in the tea. I really wondering if I am seeing too much detail - must be an illness of law-office secretaries...

actually, there is good news about nutrient content of tea! tea contains many antioxidants that eliminate free radicals from the body. Rooibus (red) tea is the highest in antioxidants and is decaff, so perfect to use for kids! i love tea, can't wait to try this one!

I wonder if your water dispenser is slow because the filter needs to be changed? My mom's was fixed by changing the filter.

BTW. the whole point of this comment is that I appreciate the idea of leaving water around to encourage me to drink.

      So smart!

I do this too with frozen berries for colour - strawberries, blueberries, raspberries.
Fresh herbs like mint ad flavour as well. The sky is the limit!

I was a bit hesitant about the cucumber but was pleasingly surprised to discover that this drink is awesome! Very refreshing and a great way to get some good fluids in. Thanks for the idea!

East coast water is great. When you come to Southern California, drink bottled or filtered.

Yum. In the summer I always have a pitcher of cucumber water in the fridge. Same concept but with water only no tea. It is SO good.

Cassie - Great question! I just use regular ones and they still work! I don't think there's a need for cold brewed ones.

Do you use regular tea bags or ones that are made for cold brewing?
