What Came Home?

Lunch Idea what came home

After the last lunch debacle we had a talk and again I let the 8-year-old pick what he wanted in his lunch with some guidance, of course, because if I truly let him choose, his lunch box would basically contain Doritos and a cupcake.

“How was lunch today? Did you eat everything?” I said.

“Almost! I didn’t eat the peas,” he replied.

“Why? You picked them! You said you wanted frozen peas like your brother.”

“Yeah, but they weren’t frozen.”

“Well, of course not honey. They defrost by lunch, that’s kind of the point.”

“Well, I wanted FROZEN peas.”

Sounds exactly like what my kids would say. My 5 yr old comes home with at least half of her sandwich (which she loves) alot her main excuse is i didn’t have time to eat so i stopped sending a treat since she always ate that but wouldn’t really touch anything else. She also gets alot of remarks from classmates that her lunch is gross. She has several food allergies so sending her lunch can be interesting

I’ve never thought about packing frozen peas. What a great idea. Now that summer is winding down, I won’t have the fresh veggies like I used to. Thanks for sharing the idea.

Since you posted this, I have been bringing frozen peas for my morning snack at work. I love them! I don’t have children so I don’t have to worry about school lunches but I have been trying to eat cleaner. Great snack idea and so easy!
