Yesterday I just wasn't in the mood for my typical breakfast of eggs. Normally I whip up a quick omelet or grab a hard-boiled egg or two out of the fridge. But yesterday what I really wanted was something sweet and chocolaty. So I decided to blend up a smoothie.
Never in a million years did I think it would be as good as it was. When you mix banana, chocolate and peanut butter together you are going to get something special but this was really tasty and very satisfying. I had to slow myself down and enjoy it because I could have easily finished it in seconds.
When I made it the first time, I added my typical cup of spinach just to up the nutritional value. Today I had none to add. To be honest, they tasted the same. The only difference was a slight variation of color from the green leaves.
You can definitely get this one into the kids if you try.
Here's what I did ...
Ingredients
- 1 ripe banana (about 100g)
- ½ cup usweetened almond milk
- 2 tablespoon unsweetened Hershey's Special Dark cocoa powder
- 1 scoop unflavored whey protein powder (Like BiPro
)
- 1 tablespoon natural peanut butter (16g)
- 1 cup (45g) baby spinach (optional)
- 10 ice cubes
Instructions
Put all ingredients except the ice cubes in the blender.
Process until smooth.
Add the ice cubes and blend again.
Enjoy!
It's a little higher in Points/calories than my other smoothie but honestly, it was super filling. Normally I regret making a smoothie as a meal replacement because I'm hungry within the house, but this one not only hit the spot, it filled me up more than a bowl of oatmeal or cereal.

This is my daughter's go to on school days but she also adds oats to it. I just bought PB2 to try and it works well in this!

Hey, my gal and I have this almost every morning but we use almond butter instead of peanut butter. And another variation we like is blueberries too.
Some good nutrients in these I think!
