I couldn't help myself, I took my hand at another Oatmeal flavor. This time taking the tea idea and going for more flavor!
The toddler and I cleaned our traditional morning Pomegranate (we do it at least once a week) and the idea smacked me in the face! Why not top some berry flavored oatmeal with theses!
So glad I did! SO YUMMY and it didn't need any sweeteners! NOTHING! I may have to rethink the oatmeal contest now. What do you guys think? This or the Trail Blazin' Oats? Which one should I enter? Of course if I go with this I'll have to up the oatmeal to ¾ of a cup, but that's cool. It would still work.
Ohh Decisions! I hate decisions. I REALLY want to win. LOL
Ingredients
- ½ cup (40g) Quick Oats
- 6 oz boiling water
- 1 berry flavored Green Tea Bag (see image below)
- 1 oz (28g) of pomegranate seeds
- About a teaspoon of fresh orange peel
- 3-4 fresh mint leaves chopped
Instructions
Seep the tea bag in boiling water for 2 minutes. You can do this directly in the bowl if you like. Remove the tea bag. Be sure to squeeze extra water out before discarding.
Add the oatmeal to the bowl. Stir and let it sit for a few minutes while preparing the rest of the ingredients.
Top the oatmeal with the seeds, orange peel and mint.
ENJOY!
Simple, right?

This recipe sounds so good...I didn’t have any pomegranates so I tweaked it a bit. I used fresh blueberries and Celestial Seasonings True Blueberry tea. The orange peel tastes so good with the blueberries. I also added a little cinnamon but its fine without it. Thanks for the recipe I love pomegranate so I can’t wait to try it.

Very professional recipe.

I think both are contenders but I'm leaning more towards your first creation.
Christine
I think both look really good, but the trail blazin oats seems more "accessible"--the ingredients are all easy to find whereever and whenever, the ingredients are less expensive, and I think the recipe will appeal to more populations (i.e. kids).
I think both should be in your cookbook though! YUM!

Hee. And you can call me Mo anytime!

This one is super creative and I can't wait to try it. I called mine "Oat of the Ordinary"--had to go with an oat pun!
roni
Hey Mo! Can I call you Mo? :~P
I went with this one. It was tastier, lighter and more seasonal. Plus it got more votes on twitter. :~)
Lemon poppy is genius! I hope they collect and shoot out all the ideas so we can see them.

What did you end up submitting? I didn't come by to stalk your recipes until I was done--I only had one idea, lemon poppyseed "muffin" oatmeal: just lemon juice, sugar, poppy seeds, and almond extract. Tasty! But yours were very creative and beautifully photographed!

I'm sure you mean "squeeze" rather than "squeezing." You probably didn't realize you were cutting and pasting a typo from your previous post.

I vote for this one! Gorgeous.
AlliJag
That looks fabulous! Such a brilliant idea!

I vote for this one. Its seasonal. :o)

Yum. Now this is right up my alley. I agree with everyone else....it is so pretty. 🙂

I vote for this one, especially since the health benefits of pomegranates have been reported all over the place lately. Seems to make a good pairing with the health benefits from oatmeal. Good luck!
dori
sounds great.. however the pomegranates take forever to prepare..
Jzbell
Definitely the trailblazin' one... though I think this one looks YUMMY too!

Ahh the oranges went into the toddler's lunch! There's no WAY I'm wasting an orange just for the peel! LOL

And it's got that color appeal too -- just gorgeous. I'd serve orange slices on the side, so not to waste.

i love pomegranate green tea, so this seems right up my alley 😉

I haven't tried either one, but this one sounds more original. The pomegranate, orange peel, and mint sounds really tasty, I'm going to have to give this a try.
Bonnie
I vote for this one, Roni. Pomegranates are "in" these days so that will give it the popular appeal, and it looks beautiful. I'm sure it tastes wonderful too! And wasn't the other one more points? So that is also appealing to me about this one.
