Sprinkled VitaBrownie Donuts


I probably should have warned you I was taking a holiday hiatus. I’ve been soaking up every moment of family time imaginable these last few days, leaving no time for anything else. Not even blogging! Shocking I know. ;)

So I return not with a new recipe, per se, but to share a fun new family holiday tradition where I take my favorite brownie mix and turn it into fun festive donuts!

Sprinkled VitaBrownie Donuts - Little Guy

The best thing about these donuts? Only 100 calories! (or 1 WWP/3WWPP if you’re counting) They came out perfectly in the donut pan and actually reminded me of a traditional chocolate frosted without the “frost.” ;)

We made them Christmas Eve morning for a fun breakfast treat and I plan on making them yearly to ward off the husband’s actual trip to the donut shop. A traditional chocolate frosted donut (my drug of choice) has, according to SparkPeople.com, 200 calories and more than 4 times the fat! They are 5WWP/6WWPP. That’s significant enough to justify an extra glass of wine (or 2) for dinner.

Making them was a cinch, but you do need a donut pan. Here’s what we did…

Whisk the water and egg whites together until frothy. Mix in the brownie mix to make the batter.

Just to be safe I sprayed the donut pan with some non-stick spray. Add about 2 tablespoons of the batter into each donut space and spread around to cover the circle completely.

Top with sprinkles.

Bake for 10-12 minutes. A toothpick inserted will come out clean.

    can you please explain to me the old vs. the new wwp’s? I’m going to try to help my daughter follow the ww point system but I don’t know what that means.

    P.S. I love your site and recipes….I can’t wait to start cooking:)

    Thanks Cheryl!

    Weight Watchers changed the formula (old used calories, fat and fiber – new uses protein, carbs, fat and fiber) so the new plan uses a different point range. Everything else is pretty much the same. I haven’t adopted it for my own use. I stick to the old points. I find them more intuitive.
