Chocolate Peanut Butter Sticks

Posted in: Dessert Ideas, Food Photos, Party Ideas, Toddler Approved | 16 Comments

I TOTALLY forgot about this idea! I made it up weeks ago and didn’t think about it again until last night when I was craving something sweet. Using an egg roll wrapper (I was planning on won ton but they were all out) a handful of chocolate chips and some healthy peanut or almond butter you get crispy, chewy, chocolaty treat in minutes!

I had a few taste testers for this one. I happen to make them when the in-laws were in town. They were fans although, the husband, of course, wasn’t impressed. The toddler? He’ll never refuse anything dessert-y. If there’s chocolate he’s pretty happy, just like Momma. :)

I’m writing up the idea to make 2 servings of 2 Sticks each. You could of course double or triple. I also kept the amount of peanut butter to a minimum, just using a light smear. If you aren’t watching calories as closely you may want to bump it up a tiny-bit.

Chocolate Peanut Butter StixThese would be easy to make ahead for a party or play-date and throw in the oven for a warm dessert.

  • 2 egg roll wrappers (normally in produce section)
  • 1 tbsp peanut or almond butter
  • 1 tbsp chocolate chip

Preheat oven 400 degrees.

Cut the wrappers in half so you have 4 rectangles. Smear each rectangle with peanut butter. Line chips (around 6) evenly spaces along one edge of the wrapper. Roll, folding over the chips. Seal the end by rubbing a bit of water on the edge.

Place each roll on a aluminum lined cookie sheet sprayed with non-stick spray. Bake for 10 minutes.

The outside will get browned, the inside will stay chewy and the chocolate will melt. Sprinkle with a bit of powdered sugar or stevia for presentation. :)

these look great! i did mine with nuetella in them.
I was wondering if you could recommend a almond butter. I am so afraid to go to the store and spend the money on it. *the jars of almond butter at the grocery store are at least 12 bucks.* so you can see why i am so hesitant.

Jennifer – not sure if you have a Trader Joe’s, but I buy their raw almond butter. SO yummy! It’s the only kind It’s tried.

These look/sound amazing!! Just wondering, I am new to the egg roll/wonton wraps, is there a point differnce between the two? I guess I could look that info up myself but I since I was posting….
And I was also wondering if you had tried “Better N’ Peanut Butter” and what your opinion was if you had?
    Thanks!!!

  11. roni on March 31, 2009 8:06 am

Ty – There is a point difference only because of size. Other then that the brand I buy is identical. 1 egg roll is about 2 won tons wrappers.

As for Better N PB.. nope.. haven’t tried it yet.

    Hope that helps!

    Thanks for the quick response!!

The Better N Peanut Butter is a little sweet tasting but shows less sugar grams per serving.?. I really like it, but I never liked PB until a couple of years ago – so I may not be the best opinion.
I was thinking of using it with a Tbsp or so of the Lite Hershey’s to thin just a bit to be able to spread it better and add a thin strip of Banana then bake them up for breakfast on the go..???… I may try it and see how it turns out. Anyway, thank you for all you do!!

Ok, I needed to make these today. We are snow and flooded in (yes, I live near Fargo). I happened to have egg roll wrappers, but no chocolate chips. I did have ricotta and cinnamon chips (made by Hershey’s – like choc. chips). They were great! I’ve been craving cinnamon rolls, and these toally hit the spot. My husband was home for lunch and tried a couple and liked them. His suggestion: cream cheese not ricotta. He’s all about richness. We’ll try that tonight for dessert.

Looks real good. Dont end up eating alot of peanut butter though cause its so high in points. I have been meaning to ask you and this post reminded me! There is a condiment company called “walden farms” that boosts no calories, fat etc in their condiments. and they have peanut spread and chocolate dip, carmel dip, jams, syrups, alfredo sauce, marshmellow dip etc. I am wondering how can they do that? Whats your take on that? It’s waldenfarms.com….take a look and let me know what you think, sounds too good to be true

Jenna – I had the chocolate WAAAAY back when. I think I wrote a review about it too but it I lost it in the crash. It’s wasn’t bad but it wasn’t good either. I haven’t bought it since, if that tells ya anything. lol
