Great idea guys! I haven’t made the Wonton Pizza Bites is a L-O-N-G time. They came out even better then I remember!
I only got the cursory, “They’re good” from the husband after he had one, and only one. How does he do that? :~P Then again he doesn’t even like those frozen pizza rolls while I can eat the whole freakin’ box. Now the toddler on the other hand, ended up eating a couple and he really enjoyed the dipping sauce.

- 24 wonton wrappers
- About 2 tbsp of tomato paste
- Garlic Powder
- Italian Seasoning
- About 1 cup baby spinach leaves chopped
- About 3/4 cup bell pepper diced (I used red and green)
- 8 slices of turkey pepperoni diced
- 2 oz of mozzarella cheese
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
In a small bowl, combine the cheese, pepperoni, pepper and spinach.
Dap a bit of tomato paste with back side of a teaspoon in the center of each wrapper. Sprinkle with the spices. Create pockets by squishing the filling on the wrapper into a mini muffin pan and pinch the ends together using a dab of water to help them stick.
Bake the bites for about 15 minutes in a preheated 375 degree oven.
Quick Dipping Sauce
Use the remaining tomato paste and warm over medium heat with 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar, 2 oz water, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, and 1/2 tsp of Italian seasoning. The result is a really thick sweet dipping sauce.

These look good, Roni! I’ll have to keep them in mind for the future.
Looks good Roni.
This looks so tasty! I don’t like bell peppers so I’m curious what else I could use instead that wouldn’t make the wontons all soggy. Any suggestions, anyone?
Thanks for the great idea! :)
Terrific idea, Roni! You could run with that idea for Mexican and Chinese versions as well!
Thanks guys!!
Shannon – Zucchini diced very small would work, onions, mushrooms, even broccoli diced small! ahh I just thought of the broccoli, that WOULD be good! :~P
Kathy – I can’t take total credit for the idea. Someone emailed it to me a long time ago, I juts ran with it.
Oh. My. God. This is a fantastic idea! I’m so making these next week when I get home.
Sounds so yummy. I LOVE the flavor of fresh basil- I want to try it putting that in!
When you cook do you use the fat free Mozzarella?
Someone commented a while back that green must be your favorite color. Looks that way to me too.
I think you should send in a clip to Food Network. You could have your own show making your healthy recipes!
I enjoy all your sites!
You can freeze extra wonton wrappers too!
SOUNDS SOOOOO YUMMY. I REALLY THINK MY KIDS WOULD DIG THESE TOO. THANKS.
These look AMAZING. I’m definitely trying it after I get some groceries this weekend!
How many calories do each wrap have- that is without the fillings. Looks great!
YumO!! Thanks for sharing :o) I enjoyed watching the video as a mom too … I know if I were to video my dinner prep I’d have some lollipopish requests in there also (too cute ~ hehe!) Glad to have come across your site ;) God Bless <3
LOL I love “the toddler” in the background. I have a 14 mo. old so I can relate to trying to do something but having to entertain them in the process.
I haven’t made them yet, but after watching the video, I’m way more likely to try them. Just have to get to the store to get some wonton wraps.
You’re amazing, and an inspiration and keep it up. I love checking my email and seeing you have a new post or a new video. I get into ruts where I feel like I’m eating the same things day after day. You’ve helped me try new things and get out of my diet rut. Thanks!
These look very “doable”! I know my 14 year old daughter and 10 year old son will be clamoring for position to help me make them! Thanks for all your time sharing your food ideas in such a motivating way.
I have not been able to find a low fat finely shredded cheese. What brand do you use in this video?
No way! Awesome!!!
Jan & Kathleen – I use the part skim mozzarella. It’s 80cals (2 points) and ounce, I believe. I’ve seen the finely shredded in most store brands near me in MD.
Hope that helps!
[...] Roni put out a good recipe for Pizza bites, and these are made with Wonton. I’m very impressed and can’t wait to try them. Also on Roni’s site she has the video of her making these great bites. http://greenlitebites.com/2008/01/24/wonton-pizza-bites/ [...]
Oh! *bomps head* I just got it! Green shirt…..GreenLiteBites….OK. I also almost made a mistake, that might be a good mistake. I first typed it GreenLiteBytes, and since you are into both kinds of ….bi(y)tes…well, you get it.
Can’t wait to try these, Roni! Thanks again! There are a lot of us out here that are eternally grateful to you!
Bonnie
Hi Roni,
I’ve been following your site for a while now. I love the new addition with Green Lite Bytes! I’m going to make the Pizza bites for a weekend treat. I’ve been having a hard time ‘getting back on the wagon’ and I was inspired by yourself and Angie All the Way (in my blog role). I’m not the best cook…and I just finished making Cod Fish Cakes…and forgot to take them out of the oven~~~Argh! So, now, they look like fish fries! So, any help I can get is great! I love the videos…very very helpful!
Cheers!
I found wonton wrappers today and bought them. Not sure I will use them for pizza bites but I am definitely going to use them for something. I LOVE wontons :)
Thanks for all the great ideas!
I am trying these this weekend! But I am going to put my own little twist on them just for something different. I was thinking about garlic chicken wontons. SO taking some marinated chicken, minced garlic, green onion, bacon bits, mozzerella, marinated artichokes and cut up baby spinach, cooking it all together until done, Dicing it all and using a dab of alfredo sauce instead of the tomato paste, (I think Ragu has a fairly low fat and low calorie alfredo sauce in the jar. It’s something like 4.5 fat grams and 70 calories for 2 tbls). I will let you know how they turned out. Not sure about dipping sauce though. They may not need it. Thanks for this great idea when I’m craving pizza!!
Roni, you are GREAT! you’ve really inspired me. POst more videos please! I can’t wait to make these wontons!
I made these for the 2nd time tonight and they were GREAT! The first time i made them i didnt follow your recipe.. i tried to do my own thing and they didnt turn out so good.. I still ate them but this time they were awesome! Thanks! =]
Hi Roni! I made these Sunday for our non-super bowl party – four of us ate every one – they were delicious! I made some with just pepperoni and cheese for one of the guys, some just veggie, and some mixed. I loved the sauce, too, and used the leftover dipping sauce with a spinach, pepper, italian sausage fritatta last night. Keep up the good work!
I made these the other night and they were to die for. At my supermarket they’ve got tomato paste in tubes so it was that much easier. Awesome idea! I’ll definitely be making these over and over again.
I just made these…no peppers b/c I didn’t have any. They were good! Thanks for sharing!
Do you know where I could find wonton wrappers that do not have egg in them? I have found a recipe online but I would rather buy them pre-made but am allergic to egg…
Desiree – I’m sorry, I’ve never seen them without egg. If I happen to see them I’ll let you know.
Thanks Roni, that would be great!!
Hi Roni,
I made the pizza bites tonight, and they turned out a little crispier on the edges than I had hoped (baked at 375 for 15 min in convection oven). The flavor was great. I especially liked the spiciness of the pepperoni. Next time, I am going to try to wrap these like the shrimp rolls. Thanks for a great recipe.
Love the pizza bits, but the sauce……not so much. We dipped them in my copy cat ranch dressing and they were great. See my comment under “warm turkey club salad with sweet dried herb dressing” for recipe.

Hi Roni! I just made these and they are wonderful. I used fat free mozz. and it worked just fine. This is the second time I used wontons, thanks to you. The ricotta rolls were the first. The important thing I am learning is that by putting forth some effort to ‘create’ a snack (rather than shoving a 2 pt snack in my mouth in one second) is certainly more satisfying and gratifying.
Again, thank you for all of your hard work and effort! I look forward to all of your cyber stuff!!! You totally ROCK!
:) Dana
Hi Roni! Just wondering if you used the rest of a 6oz. or 16oz can of tomato paste to make the dipping sauce? Thanks!
Rachel – Ohh Sorry! It was the small 6oz kind.
