Unlike me, Hila grew up with feta.
We always had feta growing up. My mom would you use in savory bakes dishes and in salads!
I had SO much fun reading everyone's feta stories! SO fun! I've been racking my brain for another fun question this week. We talked salads, we swapped feta stories, now I want to know your favorite non-traditional way to use feta. If you really only use it on salads try to break out of your comfort zone and get creative. What else can we use this versatile cheese for?
To enter simply leave a comment with your creative feta idea before next Friday and I will randomly select winner from the comments and announce when I launched the next weeks giveaway.
Good luck!
Jessica
I always seem to have feta with spinach in some form. Our favorite pizza, whether homemade or bought is feta, spinach, and tomato. One local pizza place calls it The Hippie and drizzles olive oil and spices, sooo yummy! I make the same 3 ingredients in omelets often too, or will order them out. Feta in a greek pita is great too.

I like feta on a baked potato 🙂
sara
I like to mix herb feta with fat free cream cheese and garlic and stuff into the mini peppers you can buy in the produce section of trader joes. Then spray them with a little olive oil and pop those little stuffed peppers into the oven (I just use my toaster oven so I don't heat up the kitchen) for 10-15 minutes or until warm. sooooo yummy.
thanks roni! love your blogs!!
Staci
Feta with pecans as a yummy snack.
Danielle
I toss in on chicken that is broiled with marinated artichoke hearts - soooo yummy.
My cousin also made a London broil, sliced it up and tossed it with sauteed baby spinach, peepers and onions and then melted feta in the pan so it got creamy in parts OMG delic.!!!

I put feta on my baked potato fries. I bet they would taste delicious on baked sweet potatoes, topped with some aioli.
And I also put feta on pasta with grilled chicken, some stir-fried spinach, onions, garlic, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, a bit of basil and a dash of lemon juice. Noms.
CJ @CJinKY
I'd love to add it to spaghetti sauce...mix it in with some ground turkey, zucchini, squash, and tomatos. Use that instead of parm cheese
Jim
Please don't pick me.
Shelley
I love feta!!! I love it on a salad or in a wheat pasta dish with fresh tomatoes. Its very versatile.
Laura
I don't know how non-traditional it is, but my husband makes a mean Caesar chicken wrap, using feta in place of parmesan. Throw some kalamata olives in that thing, some baby romaine, and it is bangin! It seems to be even better after wrapping it up in plastic wrap for an hour or so (letting the flavors mingle), and using it as picnic fare. Mmmm! The best!
Tonyne @ Unlikely Success Story
Feta cheese, some garlic and a little bit of chives in a food processor. Amazing dip for pita chips!
Lisa
We went to GReece on our honeymoon, and when we were there we had the best feta "spread". Take a block of feta (not the all crumbled up kind)and pour olive oil, dried oregano and pepper on it, wrap it up in foil and throw on the grill to soften up. So good on bread......
Tazneen
How about feta stuffed Samosas..baked or deep fried.
Laura
My favorite is stuffed chicken... pound a chicken breast flat (about 1/4 - 1/2 inch thick), put spinach, feta, and roasted red pepper in the center. Fold the chicken over and coat with a mixture of bread crumbs and fresh herbs. Bake in the oven for about 30-40 minutes. Yum!
Melissa
I like it on just about anything. Salads, burgers, pizzas, egg scrambles, etc.
There is a great WW recipe with spinach, mushrooms, couscous, and feta, that may be my FAVORITE way
Joanna
We use feta on homemade pizzas all the time! My favorite one is made with pesto and fresh tomatoes.
Jessica C.
I love feta! Recently love to put it on my fries, I like to bake them then add some garlic salt and then pile on the feta. They are so good together!

Like others was 'late' to discover feta. First had it on the diner greek salad then tried the diner Greek omelette-now I do a home rip off version with eggs, feta, some peppers and onions. Yum!
Luz
I heart feta! I love it for breakfast in the mornings: Omelet with sun dried tomatoes and feta! Yum!

I buy feta buy the block at the deli counter. I slice it about 1/4 inch thick ,bread it ( like i would a cutlet, beat an egg in one bowl, and put panko bread crumbs in another. dip in egg then in BC) place in hot oil and fry till golden brown. You can use the fried feta to top mixed greens or spinach salads, add to pastas, omlets, or even just eat it by itself or in a nice crunchy loaf of french bread. so good
Cassie
Feta is a MUST if I am going to eat a cucumber! Sliced thin, balsamic vinegar drizzled over, sprinkled with a little basil (fresh is best, but dried works too!) and feta crumbled over the top! A delicious, healthy, easy fresh snack!
Hila
What about Feta for breakfast - maybe mixed into scrambles eggs!
Traci
I make veggie quesadillas, and use feta as the main cheese in them...very different from the traditional cheeses ppl use but SOOOOO delicious. Quesadillas with feta is super yummy!
Beth
I love feta with fresh mint! I make a potato salad with red potatoes, peas, mint, and feta tossed in a vinaigrette... it's been one of my favorite feta dishes lately.
Lorie H.
I recently saw a recipe for feta, roasted pepper and basil muffins. Doesn't that sound yummy?
colleen
I love buying the ready made pie dough (like pilsbury) and using a small biscuit cutter to cut out circles. I place them in a mini cupcake tin(to form a little pie cup) I make a mixture of feta, egg, and green onion. I place 1 sundried tomato in the bottom of each dough cup then place the cheese mixture on top about half way up. Top w/ one calmata olive then bake at 350" till crust is golden brown. about 15 -20 mins soooo yummy
Josh Durant
personally i love it on pizza, for some reason i don't enjoy it "raw" but on pizza with sausage, yum!
amy
ive never really experimented with feta but what i have done is stuff it in a turkey burger and it was really good....it melted really nicely i made like a greek inspird stuffed turkey burger
Jen Drake
well i have very simple tastes lol, i was lucky that when i was growing up my mom had feta in the house, and i have it either on a salad, sometimes just a nibble of it for a snack. but my fiance likes when i put it on pizza
Traci
I love putting feta in omelettes with whatever veggies I have around, and also love it on veggie pizzas!
Jan
Molly, that sounds wonderful. I am going to try it tonight.

When I lived in Germany, I used to get baked feta and tomatoes from a takeout place there. After moving back, I decided to recreate it. I combine equal amounts of feta and diced, fresh tomato, add lots of chopped garlic, some dried oregano and drizzle with some olive oil. Then bake in a hot oven until hot. Serve with crusty bread or pita for dipping. Delish.
Jessie C.
I use feta in grilled pizza and with egg roll.
Christina
LOVE feta and use it constantly!!! I love it on a greek pizza with kalamata olives, basil and pepperoncinis. I also make a yummy garbanzo bean & bell pepper salad with balsamic vinaigrette that is delish with feta mixed in.
Angela
I use feta in just about everything. One creative use is in quesadillas with grilled veggies. It's a delicious and healthy way to clean out the fridge.
RG
I make a roasted eggplant dish out of moosewood - marinate roasted eggplant with peppers, onion, tomato, basil; sort of a raw ratatouille. Feta's great in there
Jessica Hightower
Feta used in a grilled cheese sandwich
kelly
You could make a feta pesto with feta, garlic, basil and pine nuts and spread it on pasta!
joy
Mmmm.... feta pizza, feta salad, feta with pasta, feta in potato salad. I love feta!
Shannon
I use feta in EVERYTHING! I mix it in with egg whites, put it on pizzas, salads (especially roasted beet salads - yum!) and to top off roasted veggies with dill. 🙂
MH
I'm not too creative, but I use feta in spinach salad as well as some pasta salads.
JoeyfromSC
I absolutely LOVE feta! I can eat it plain lol

Twice baked sweet potato. Mash up the flesh of a baked sweet potato, add feta, spices (I used garlic, salt and pepper), a bit of finely chopped green pepper and onion. I mix it all right in the skin of the potato. Put back in the oven to melt the feta. YUM!
Johnna Duke
I love a very simple bowl of chunked watermelon with feta sprinkled on top. And sometimes I like to dice up tomatoes, cucumbers and parsley, put in a bowl and squeeze the juice of a fresh lemon over it and mix, then drizzle with a little olive oil and mix again serve with bread and a nice chunk of Feta on the side, DELIC!
Nicole
I use feta, sauted spinach, onions and green/red peppers and stuff it into chicken cutlets (pounded thin) YUMMY!
Nicole
Shana
I am new to using feta so my creativity is borrowed form someone else.
Sarah
Macaroni and cheese!!
kyree90
Creative? You want creative? I leave that to you! But I've been known to make a nice Greek-type omelet with a filling of feta, tomato, onion, olives and mushrooms. Pretty tasty.
Niveditha
One other way of using feta is to just crumble it and mix with other vegetables while making fried rice...never tried it but am going to..thanks!!!

christine
people have talked about fruit & feta and pizza & feta... i work at a pizza place and once made a pineapple and feta (instead of ham) pizza and it was delicious.
corrie
Feta is great in almost everything! Maybe someone can figure out how to make an awesome brownie with feta... It's nice in a couscous salad -- with cucumbers, cumin, red onion.
Amy L
Not exactly creative, but I make flatbread pizzas with chicken, tomato, olives and feta, and I also use it in pasta salads. I love it because a little goes a long way flavor-wise!
Kerry
I like putting feta on roasted eggplant, drizzled with tomato sauce.
Rhea (Greek Feaster)
My creative feta tip: use it as bait for trapping food bloggers! (Especially me) 😉
Barb
here is one of the ways I use feta.......
Barb’s Spinach Chicken with Feta
6 skinless, boneless chicken breasts
1 (10 ounce) package fresh spinach
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1/2 cup feta cheese crumbled
1/4 cup mayonnaise
In medium bowl, mix spinach, garlic, feta cheese and mayonnaise until blended. Set aside.
Spray a 9 x 13 glass baking dish with nonstick cooking spray, arrange chicken breasts in pan. Spoon spinach mixture over top on chicken breasts, add salt and pepper if desired. Cover with foil. Bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes, or until chicken is no longer pink. Take foil off the last 15 minutes of baking.
Tami
I don't know how creative this is but I put feta in my turkey burgers, it adds flavor, saltiness and moisture as it gets all melted when they cook. I add in oregano or basil and some garlic powder so simple but big on flavor!
mary
can we say feta-burger?
F. Plvan
I make a mean mac and cheese with different kinds of cheese--cheddar, asagio, parmesan--but I always include some feta!

How about in an omlet? Yum. I LOVE feta on just about anything...pizza, etc. I wonder how it would be on a baked potato. It's a nice change from "regular" cheese.
Dawn
I LOVE feta just about any way...even just a chunk of it with some triscuits, drizzled with a little olive oil and maybe a few olives...yumm
Danielle
I'd like to try jazzing up a black bean burger with feta mixed into the "meat" - that sounds delicious to me!
sarah
this is so silly -- but I snack on it straight!
Effie
growing up my mom would make us "greek breakfast." It was kind of like a fritatta. Cooked diced potatoes, a couple beaten eggs, and feta cheese mixed in. Still my family's favorite breakfast!
Janice
Feta is excellent on a greek pizza, use a pita, garlic a little olive oil, black olives(or really any olives you enjoy) and feta...Yummy!!!!
Erika @ Dr.TriRunner
Well now that I bought a VITA MIX (!!!) I have an idea. For a soup. A cold... greek flavors soup. I'm imagining the awesome greek dishes I get at this great restaurant here in Minneapolis, and it would have tomatoes, red onions, and DELICIOUSNESS, all topped with some roasted red pepper feta. YES please!
Rebecca
I don't know if this is creative or not. I thought it was. We never ate feta cheese growing up and just discovered it in the last couple years. A friend of mine told me about putting feta on watermelon. It is now my favorite summertime treat!
Lacey @ Lake Life
Use it in place of bleu cheese dressing on buffalo chicken or tofu strips. Just mix it up with some greek yogurt and S&P and voila! Bleu cheese dressing without the Penicillin 😉
