Spinach Calzones

These spinach calzones are the perfect comfort food, with a crispy crust and savory filling. Make them for a quick and easy dinner tonight!

Ingredients
  

  • ½ Pound Pizza Dough ½ package of Trader Joes works great or you can make your own
  • 1 10 oz frozen pack of spinach defrosted
  • ½ cup fat free Ricotta cheese 124 g
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 oz mozzarella cheese
  • Sauce for dipping - I used leftover homemade

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 425 Degrees
  • Separate the dough into 2 even 4 oz balls. Stretch and roll out the dough.
    ½ Pound Pizza Dough
  • Drain any excess water from the spinach and mix it with Ricotta, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and mozzarella.
    ½ cup fat free Ricotta cheese, ½ teaspoon garlic powder, ½ teaspoon onion powder, ⅛ teaspoon kosher salt, 2 oz mozzarella cheese, 1 10 oz frozen pack of spinach defrosted
  • Half the spinach-cheese mixture on place each half on one side of rolled out dough. Fold over the dough, flatten a bit, seal the edges and pierce the top with a knife a few times.
  • Place calzones on a cookie sheet lined with aluminum foil and sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. Bake on the middle rack for about 20 minutes until crust is firm to the touch and the spinach is warmed through.
  • Serve with dipping sauce and enjoy!
