A Cuban-esque Sandwich

Our Cuban-esque sandwich is a twist on the classic, complete with roasted pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard, all served between two slices of bread.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 small whole wheat pita
  • yellow mustard
  • 1 oz of thin sliced deli ham
  • 2 oz leftover pork loin sliced
  • 1 oz slice of muenster cheese
  • About 6 sweet pickle slices enough to cover the sandwich

Instructions
 

  • Separate the pita into two circles by running a knife along the edge. I use these little gems from Trader Joe's.
    1 small whole wheat pita
  • Smear the mustard on one side. Layer the ham, pork and cheese on top. Add the layer of pickles.
    yellow mustard, 1 oz of thin sliced deli ham, 2 oz leftover pork loin sliced, 1 oz slice of muenster cheese, About 6 sweet pickle slices
  • Top with the other half of pita and grill on a panini press or the George Foreman like I did.
  • If you are using the Forman, cook for 2 minutes and then turn cooking for 2 more.
