Coming home form the gym today I was HUNGRY! It took eveything I had not to hit a drive thru. Actually I’m lucky, I have to go out of my way to see one, not far out of my way, but, you know what I mean. I made it home waistline in tact. ;~)
“Can you make this every weekend?”
“You really hit this one out of the park!”
“Now this is RIGHT up my alley!”
Yes, ladies and gentleman, those all quotes from the husband! Apparently all I had to do was shove a beer can up a chicken’s a$$ to get him excited about dinner! Read the rest of this post
I bought some shaved turkey breast deli meat last week. You know, the thin sliced pre-packaged kind. I’m not quite sure why, the husband and toddler are both ham people and there is no way I’m going to eat this package of deli meat before it goes bad.
There is one thing I don’t do. One thing that probably most people would laugh at me for and call me a food snob. I can not, no way, no how, buy jarred tomato sauce. You know that Ragu stuff. Blame my mom, she never bought it when I was growing up. She’d make huge batches of homemade sauce that we seemed to always have on hand so there was never really a need.
Awhile back I wrote up my Mommy and Me Omelet Post about making eggs with the toddler. It wasn’t a recipe per say just some ideas for breakfast that can include kids. Well, I don’t know why I didn’t think of this before, but I just realized I could record one of our morning routines. Read the rest of this post
Five months ago I made Baked Ham with Sweet Potatoes and Carrots. Why is that important, you ask? Well, I ate the other half of that 3 pound ham tonight. Using the same seasoning as the baked dish, I cut the Ham into 3 oz “steaks” marinated and grilled them on the BBQ. It was delicious! The husband AND the the toddler BOTH asked for seconds. Do you believe it? Read the rest of this post
This may be one of those things that I only like. It truly is the result of… 1.)Being hungry, 2.) having NOTHING is the house, and 3.) wanting to experiment.
I was just going to make some homemade hummus but upon inspection of my almost barren cupboard I discovered no Chickpeas. Just an old can of Butter Beans.
The nice folks over at Amazing Taste contacted me asking if I’d be willing to review their seasoning packets. Honestly, I totally forgot about them until I came home from my business trip to discover a box of spices on my stoop.
Being away for the last week they couldn’t have come at a better time. I was hankering for a home cooked meal but I wanted to make something brainless that didn’t require much thought. Cue Amazing Taste Chili Seasoning! Read the rest of this post
I’m bringing back the produce picks! It’s been forever and to be honest nothings has caught my eye recently until this bright yellow melon called my name last week.
I couldn’t find much online about the canary melon, this write up from wisegeek was the most informative. Please let me know if you’ve tried it or see them in your grocery store!
Hi there, I tried your turkey burgers. I love the flavor. I cooked mine is a le creuset grille pan but they totally stuck to the pan and I generously added olive oil to coat the pan. Any tips on cooking these so so they don’t fall apart?? Thanks
It’s zucchini season, can you tell? I really can’t believe I haven’t posted these here on GreenLiteBites yet. I went digging for my own recipe (yes I do that) and had to look at my old site archives!
Anyway, these are on old favorite of mine. A little ketchup and salt, they take me right back to the good old North Eastern PA bazaars where I grew up on artery clogging potato pancakes, an old favorite of mine. They don’t have the same exact texture but they are good enough knock off for me! Read the rest of this post
