Don’t know what Sweet Tamarind is, yeah.. either did we! Watch us as we share some with Batman and Ben10 and most importantly figure our how to open the box. :) For more info on Sweet Tamarind check out these sites…. Read the rest of this post
I did it! I cooked dinner! I can’t believe it! :) It’s been forever and I’m happy to report my return to the kitchen was (sort of) welcomed by both the husband and the child. Actually the child DEVOURED his plate. The husband, picked, ate a bit, said it was “good”. Then I told him there was sweet potatoes in it and he made a face. You gotta love when the Dad is pickier then the kid. ;)
I NEEDED to cook this morning. It was like therapy. I’m so sorry for my absence. I’ve been dealing with quite a bit of personal stuff. But let’s not talk about that… I want to tell you about my experimental muffins that I turned into “upside down cakes” because they didn’t rise. ;)
It was a dinner-less day today. The whole family was out and about at different times. I went shopping. The husband took the little guy putt putt-ing. Then later the husband golfed while Ryan watched me run a 5k at a local winery. It was a really eventful day! By the time I got home I just wanted something bar-food like with a healthy twist. Then I remembered I defrosted a few chicken breasts. Read the rest of this post
I was such a good girl. I spent time getting ready for the week. I created a menu and shopping list. I came home from work all ready for my tacos. I open the fridge to pull everything out only to discover I have NO salsa. Aaack! This is odd as I normally keep at least 3 jars of my favorite in stock. I totally forgot I let it run out on purpose for my move. *sigh* What’s a girl to do? Read the rest of this post
The title says it all. I had boneless chicken breasts, a few cans, a splash of seasoning and FINALLY a home cooked meal! Unbelievably the husband and toddler both ate this! I will make it again as an official recipe with Nutritional Info and all. For now you get the quick idea. Remember… just take it and run… :) Read the rest of this post
Did you know yesterday was Milk Chocolate Day? yeah.. me either. If I did I would have consumed more of the best stuff on earth. :) I actually had no chocolate on hand so I celebrated by making a simple yet super tasty breakfast!
This is one of those “why-didn’t-I-think-of-this-before” ideas. I’m a big fan of light chocolate soy milk. It has a strikingly similar nutritional profile as regular old skim milk only better because it has CHOCOLATE in it. :) Read the rest of this post
A busy day, picky preschooler, and a kitchen fire, oh MY!
First let me just say I’m a mom with a full time job and her own business. The busy day part of this story is nothing new. :)
The picky preschooler? *sigh* I fear my son is JUST LIKE HIS FATHER!! Read the rest of this post
What happens when a creative healthy home cook gets hungry after being on a junk filled week long vacation? A healthy, light, vegetarian salad idea, that’s what!
I’m super happy with this idea. It was fast, easy, tasty, satisfying and an uber light lunch! I may make it again tonight to bring to work tomorrow. Read the rest of this post
We’re baaaaack… from vacation that is! After a week of eating crap we decided on a super light dinner of grilled veggies and fresh corn on the cob. Everyone loved it. Well… everyone except the husband. Here’s how the conversation went down (in reference to the veggies)… Read the rest of this post
I’m heading out on vacation today but first I wanted to share a book with you. I was sent Notes on Cooking: A Short Guide to an Essential Craft to review just before moving a few weeks ago. It’s a cute little hard bound book and I when I looked inside I fell in love with the "notes" format. (It’s really just a long bullet list – more like reading a blog then a book)
I generally don’t have time to read long books. My schedule is just too crazy which is why I normally stick with short stories or books with lots of pictures. :) Read the rest of this post
