What Came Home?

OK, there are 2 things I want to mention in this lunch post.

First, I was getting a little suspicious of all the 2-year-old’s lunches coming home empty. So I sent a note with his last lunch and asked for them to leave anything he didn’t eat in the containers. Voila! Now I can get a better idea of what is and isn’t working for lunches.

Second, let’s talk about picky 2-year-olds for a minute. If you guys have been following along for some time on the blog, you may know Evan is NOT a fruit fan (click here to see some of our baby food adventures.) No berries, no banana, no apples! Not consistently anyway. He may take a bite 1 out of every 10 times I offer.

He has always enjoyed melon, but there’s a catch. He may DEVOUR it when I cut it fresh but turns his nose up at it precut. Notice the photo — he may have eaten 1 or 2 cubes. The night before? He ate 2-3 wedges easily.

Again … KIDS!

My 2 year old is the same way! He is not a fruit fan (veggies are his forte), but if I give him a wedge of watermelon he scarfs it down and asks for more. If I cut it into cubes, he'll lick it and say, "ewwww". lol Reply

My 2 year old loves fruit...hates veggies haha. Love kids, they're so honest :) Reply

Haha, looks like your kids are pretty small eaters (or for their lunches you show us anyways). But you should take advantage of that now, as I'm sure in several years they'll be costing you a fortune in food! I remember when I was in grade 8 I would take 4 sandwiches, an apple, a couple bags of crackers, maybe an applesauce or fruit cup, a granola bar, and several water bottles to school and still be hungry enough to go after my friends' goodies... then a few hours when school was over I was famished and devoured lots more when I got home!!
