Cabbage, Feta and Pear Salad

I’ve made this salad twice since creating and photographing it. I wanted to share it so badly I’m so mad it’s taken me this long to get it up on the site! It’s so tasty in that I-cant-believe-these-few-ingredients-go-so-good-together type of way.

I bought a head of purple cabbage, not knowing what I’d do with it. I was thinking a slaw but then I noticed the ripe pears in my fruit basket and figured…

Why not?

Cabbage, Feta and Pear Salad Good move on my part!

The feta just seemed to make sense. Its saltiness goes perfect with the sweetness of the pear and crunch of the cabbage. I added a little mustard and vinegar to balance it and the honey seemed to bring it all together.

Here’s what I did.

It’s SO stinkin’ easy!

  • 1/4 of a large purple head of cabbage shredded (about 150g)
  • 1 ripe pear (soft and sweet)
  • 1oz (28g) crumbled feta cheese
  • 1 tsp (5g) grainy mustard
  • 1/2 tbsp (10g) honey
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • Pinch of kosher salt

Put all ingredients in a bowl.

Toss with a pair of tongs

Make to sure break some of the pears and really coat everything with the cheese and honey.

    Hmm I never thought about it. The apple cider and honey may help prevent browning but I haven't tried it yet. I'll update when I do! Reply

    Sounds great. I would never count this as 7. The recipe builder is just not good for some things. This is one of them. If I ate a 1/4 of a cabbage tossed with vinegar and mustard, then a pear, then some feta, the total would be three points for the feta only. That's what I'm going with when I make it!!! Reply

    We saw an earlier comment about the browning of the pears- if you add a little squeeze of lemon juice, that'll prevent oxidation from happening and the salad will keep for a few days! Reply

    This would not be a combo I would have tried. But I love all three ingredients. I currently take Greens that give me 8+servings of fruits and veggies, plus probiotics and other awesome all-natural ingredients. I've lost almost 30 lbs. on the products I am taking. But this recipe would only serve to give me more of what I need, as well as taste good I'm sure!!!! I love that! Reply
