Adventures in Healthier Eating with 2 Kids and a Picky Husband

Produce Pick: Pepino Melon [video]

Posted by 2 years ago 5 Comments

We’re baaaack! In video that is. I know it’s been awhile. It seems video production with 2 kids is doubly as difficult as it is with one.

I guess that makes sense huh?

Anyway, I was ecstatic when I found this cute little fruit called Pepino Melon in the “exotic” section of my local grocery store. As I say in the video, it’s been awhile since we found something fun and new to us in the produce section.

Here in Chile we are used to these two different type of cucumbers: Salad Cucumber (Pepino), your average green cucumber; and Fruit Cucumber (Pepino), wich is this nice fruit. They're a summer fruit, usually very cheap to buy when in season, and one of my mom's favorite. It can be peeled before served but that's a really juicy mess!!! The skin is soft like an apple, so no need to peel it before eating it. Glad you liked it! Reply
