SO MANY FUN ANNOUNCEMENTS!
OK, sorry, just had to scream that right up front. Now on to the news…
1. Saving Recipes!
First of all, I’m excited to let you all know about a new feature here at GreenLiteBites. You’ll notice that I’ve added a Save Recipe button to each recipe post (top right and bottom left,) so you can now save your favorites to your own personal recipe boxes, along with any other recipes you find across the web. You can also save the recipe ingredients to your online shopping lists with one click.
I’ve teamed up with ZipList to make this happen. They power the online recipe boxes and shopping lists you see at MarthaStewart.com, Simply Recipes and Joy of Baking, as well as many food blogs. You can save recipes from any of these websites, including mine, and they’ll all be saved in one place. No more hunting from site-to-site to track down your favorite recipes!
You can also access your recipe box and shopping list from my website (look up at the links across the top for Recipe Box,) ZipList.com and using free mobile apps so you have what you need to plan meals and grocery shop wherever you go. I’m excited to hear what you think and whether you’ve been using this service already. I know a few you have brought it to my attention.
Second, I’m launching a new newsletter. Actually, scratch that, I’m launching a newsletter for the first time ever! Currently, the only way to subscribe to GreenLiteBites (or Roni’s Weigh) is via RSS which will notify you by email whenever I post new content (see subscribe field in sidebar.) That’s great if you want to be notified as soon as I post something new. However, if you’d rather just receive an occasional email from me highlighting recent recipes and posts please sign up below.
I promise not to bombard your email. I’m thinking monthly updates, if that.
3. GreenLiteBites Live!
Finally, I’m trying something brand new tonight! As you may have noticed video production for GreenLiteBites has decreased. It’s not due to lack of ideas or interest on my part. Rather it’s technical problems that have been holding me back. I’ve decided to cut out the video editing process and just invite you into my kitchen live.
That’s right, LIVE.
I can’t promise there won’t be any mistakes, screams, drops, crying, phone rings, or craziness, but I can promise an attempt to share my tips and cooking ideas in a real world environment.
My mission has always been to show people it’s not that hard to cook healthy at home. This may be the best way to prove OR disprove my theory. You’ll have to watch to see how it goes.
At this point I’m not sure how (or if I want) to integrate the live feed into the site so for now click over to this post to launch the viewer. If you click the chat button on the side of the video it will open bigger, I believe. We’ll have to learn together. It will be an adventure! :)
Ok, that’s enough news. I better clean my kitchen before tonight!
