I don't think I'm brave enough for these, but I'm sure my husband is. He's kind of a garbage disposal! He really likes Indian type food, so I'm sure he'll enjoy this with a little red pepper and sugar!

Roni, my daughter loves sour tamarinds, they are regular snacks in her lunch. It's a very common West Indian treat! :)

it was funny watching you eat the tamarind. But you are correct in what you are eating. You get the veins off and eat the flesh. you do not eat the seed or the veins or the hard shell. You can finger pick all the flesh off and then add some sugar to it to make a sweet and tangy concotion. or you can also add some red pepper powder and salt for a more sweet ad spicy concotion. I grew up in India and this was a street food that was sold outside our schools all the time.yummo!!

Hey Roni,
My husband is from guatemala and tamarind soda is his favorite. It is called tamarindo in spanish and the soda name brand is called "Jarrito" if you are interested in trying it you can find it in mexican stores. I have never tried the fruit before only the soda, but I know you make tamarind sauces for meat and stuff in many latin american dishes. Thanks for the review!

Oh my gosh, I was cracking up watching this! My family and I found tamarind flavored stuff at the Mexican grocer a couple years ago after reading about them on Bad-Candy.com (http://www.bad-candy.com/candies/tamarind/) so we bought some products and tried them. All I can say is it was awful! So anytime we see anything tamarind (real fruit, candy, juice, whatever) we all just sort of cringe. But now after watching your video, I'm kinda inspired to try those pods. Our regular grocer carries tamarind pods in the produce section, but I don't know if they are "sweet tamarind" or that horrible crap we had from the Mexican grocer. LOL

Hi Roni,

First, I LOVE your haircut!

Second, I have never heard of these but your video cracked me up and I watched the whole thing even though I doubt I am brave enough to try these. Thank you for a unique produce pick!
