Sandra -- nutritionally speaking not much.. both are 60 cals a tbsp and have similar other specs. However, some believe the agave impacts your blood sugar differently, not as much impact. And others believe honey is a better choice because you can get it more "raw". I use both and I decide on flavor. For me honey is very distinct and I like it in certain things. Agave is sweet but doesn't have the "honey-ness" I want sometimes. :)

Hope that helps!

Quick question Roni,

What is the advantage of using Agave nectar versus honey? I'm curious to know if it offers more nutritional value.

BTW, this recipe sounds awesome!

Thank you,

If you have a Vitamix, you can make your own almond milk easy. 4-6 parts water, 1 part almonds, agave or maple syrup to sweeten. To make it really creamy and nutritious, add some meat from a young coconut (found at asian markets)

Farah,

I make smoothies all the time with raw almonds. I use the blender (a good one). No broken blades yet.

1/2 Banana,
1/4cup nonfat Yogurt,
1/2cup of non fat milk
3 to 4 strawberries
1tsp honey
12 almonds

blend all of the above in Bullet and enjoy...

My favorite smoothie is 1/2 c unsweetened vanilla almond milk, 1 scoop protein powder, 1/2 banana, 3/4 c frozen blueberries, and 3 ice cubes. It keeps me satisfied for a long time. If the banana is not ripe, you can add a little agave syrup for sweetness. Almond milk rocks. Thanks for the new recipe. BJ

I appreciate your sharing your experience with making almond milk. I was diagnosed with a dairy allergy in December. I've been buying Blue Diamond milk but haven't ventured out into making my own. I'll have to give it a try.

Thanks again.
