For us, Shrove Tuesday, or Mardi Gras, was traditionally the day when you use up all your fattening things - eggs and butter etc - before fasting for Lent. So, pancakes! Now of course we just eat pancakes and forget about the fasting after :) They even have races with frying pans to celebrate. Cool no? I think you should start a new tradition!
