Smoothie II (Chocolate Strawberry Banana)

Have I told you I’m a smoothie fanatic? I love them and it’s an easy way to get fruit in the toddler when he’s “not in the mood” for breakfast. I can come up with a million different combinations.
Unlike my other quick smoothie idea this one uses plain non fat yogurt instead of the flavored stuff with the artificial sweeteners.
That being said, I needed to sweeten it somehow and one packet of Stevia worked perfectly!
- 1 banana peeled
- 5 frozen strawberries
- ½ cup nonfat unflavored yogurt
- 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa
- 1 packet of Stevia
Blend all ingredients together!
Serve!
I use a hand blender as the top down approach helps me not have to add extra liquid. If you use a traditional blender, you may have to add a splash of water or skim milk to help it along. It is super thick!
As you can see, the toddler is a HUGE fan. HUGE!

Hi Roni, I am a huge smoothie fan too!! I put wheat germ in my smoothies with a lot of the same ingredients like you used and my kids cannot even tell its in there! Sometimes I even put the ground flax in. Just another way to sneak some healthy stuff into the kids.
We are having a snow storm in Ontario Canada so a perfect day to do lots of baking!
So here is out it played out for me today…
I made your new chocolate cookies, while they were baking, I mixed up the new smoothie as above and then mixed myself up some pumpkin spice loaves! I cannot believe how wonderful it feels to have these yummy snacks on hand. As I was taking the cookies out of the oven, I had to eat 5…they are DELICIOUS! I was going to have a loaf of pumpkin spice for lunch but figured it might be a better bet to eat a proper lunch and then save some of that for this afternoon’s snack!
Thanks Roni. You and your creations are a life saver for me. You have helped to make this time, my last time on a weight loss journey.
Have a great day…I know I will…

I’m a huge smoothie fan too! I like using plain nonfat GREEK yogurt (Fage brand or Trader Joe’s brand) because it’s much higher in protein than other plain yogurts. I’ve found getting enough protein at breakfast helps control my appetite and as a dietitian, I suggest the same advice to my clients!
I’m also love my smoothies! I use chocolate protein powder, which helps keep me full all morning long! (and tastes great too!)
This was a great recipe! To make it Core, I used a little of the pudding mix in place of the cocoa powder and Stevia. I also added milk to make it a little more drinkable. Very yummy!
What a great idea! I would have never thought of pudding!

[...] who is not a big sweet eater really liked them. Shortly after lunch I was very hungry and opted for this from Green Lite Bites. I substituted 3/4 cup soy milk for the yogurt, and it was soooo yummy. [...]
wow they look yummy!!! you can also try using kefir instead of non fat yogurt. it’s healthier and has ten times more good bacteria in it.
